In the mid '60s, Detroit automakers did a good job of satisfying those who wanted big and small cars, but offered little for those who wanted something in between. But, in 1964, Chevrolet resolved this problem with the Chevelle. The first Chevelles were 11 inches longer than the compact Chevy II and 18 inches shorter than the full-size Chevrolets. The original Chevelle came with four engine choices from a small 194 cubic inch six-cylinder engine to a substantial 327 cubic inch V-8, and was available with four different transmission options. Within the three series of Chevelle, there were sedans, convertibles and hardtops. By 1966, the Chevelle became a separate model and received new body styling, including aggressive front fenders and grille and newly designed contour lines. The Chevelle SS 396 was the epitome of the true muscle car with its powerful V-8 engine. The Chevelle coupled sporty looks with true performance to become a favourite model at the time - and a classic automobile forever. Now, the 1966 Chevelle SS 396 is re-created in an exciting die-cast replica. Precision-engineered in 1:43 scale and authentically detailed, the 1966 Chevelle DD 396 is produced by - and available only from - Matchbox Collectibles, the greatest name in die-cast.
